The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings return to the field Saturday morning with a will to win and win they did winning both game to close out their "Halifax First Pitch tournament. 

In game one of the day Lady Viking's Berkley Garner threw a gem, allowing zero runs and besting Rocky Mount Academy by a score of 6-0.

Halifax Academy opened up scoring in the first inning. Ashlyn Cooke doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. The Vikings notched three runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by a single by Ella Howell, by Alexus Roundtree, and a double by Hayden Barlow.

Garner was credited with the victory for Halifax Academy. The fireballer went seven innings, allowing zero runs on four hits, striking out five and walking zero.

Halifax socked one home run on the day. Garner went yard in the third inning. The Lady Vikings racked up 11 hits. Garner, Howell, and Cooke each racked up multiple hits. Cooke, Howell, and Garner each collected two hits to lead Halifax.

Halifax Academy didn't commit a single error in the field. Cooke had the most chances in the field with nine.

 

In game two the Lady Vikings snatched the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Brunswick Academy.

The game was tied at four with Halifax Academy Varsity Vikings batting in the top of the eighth when Hayden Barlow doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

In the first inning, Halifax Academy got their offense started. Ashlyn Cooke doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Brunswick Academy knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the fifth inning. An error scored one run for Brunswick Academy.

Cooke earned the victory in the circle for Halifax Academy. The bulldog lasted eight innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out six. \

Morgan Hudomint went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Halifax Academy Varsity Vikings in hits.
