Halifax County Commissioners may have to look at several options, including negotiations with the lowest bidder, after all bids on the proposed sheriff's office and jail upgrade came in over the project budget of $9.7 million.

Board rejects KIPP offer to buy Littleton plant

Halifax County commissioners today rejected an offer from recently chartered KIPP Halifax College Preparatory to buy the Littleton industrial building on Highway 158, currently being used by Allegro LSA, for a school.

Reimbursement to Halifax Community College for cleanup of a mold issue in the 500 building, brought up preliminary discussion this evening of a broader issue county commissioners will have to explore — a 10 percent fund balance.

Halifax EMS to get new building

Halifax County EMS will be getting new headquarters after commissioners today agreed to buy the Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad substation on American Legion Road at Highway 125.

The county has put on the table an $800,000 offer to buy the town of Weldon's water treatment facilities.
