Statement from the United States Postal Service on Wednesday’s National Day of Mourning in honor of President George H.W. Bush:
The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:
Edward Lee Murphy, a man who lived under the Interstate 95 bridge for years, died last week from what Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty described as an untreated medical condition.
The 2018 Roanoke Rapids Christmas Parade went down Roanoke Avenue this afternoon with city fire department Battalion Chief Kevin Hawkins leading the way.
Hawkins, who is battling mantle cell lymphoma, was honored by the city as a hometown hero.
The Roanoke Rapids High School Student Council (STUCO) is having a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday December 1st from 9am-3pm at Good News Baptist Church.
