Two men are wanted in a December 16 shooting that left two people injured, Weldon police Chief Christopher Davis said this afternoon.
Davis said the shooting is possibly the result of a prior dispute between the men wanted and the victims.
Detective H. Cross identified Aki Thomas, 21, of Seaboard, and Don’Tayvious Cotton, 32, of Gaston, as the alleged shooters from a video taken at the scene, Davis said.

Cotton
Cross has obtained warrants on both men for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, shooting into an occupied dwelling and vehicle, going armed to the terror of the public, and injury to real and personal property.

Thomas
Davis said both men are considered armed and dangerous and he encourages them to surrender.
Davis said the investigation began after he received a call shortly after 2:45 p.m. about a large fight near East Sixth and Cedar streets involving approximately 50 to 100 people.
While traveling to the scene, Davis said he received another call from the 911 center stating someone had been shot.
There was no fight at the site the caller had referenced, but Davis learned that the shooting occurred near the 700 block of Cedar Street. No one at that location was cooperative.
Police did learn that two people were taken to ECU Health North Hospital. One victim has been treated and the other remains in stable condition, the chief said.
