A traffic stop Monday resulted in the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids man on marijuana charges.

Lieutenant George Evans of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said shortly before 7 p.m., Deputy G. Page stopped 24-year-old Antonio Monte Simmons for a traffic violation.

A subsequent search yielded 13 individual bags of marijuana, a total of 14 grams.

Simmons was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was jailed on $5,000 bond and has an August 8 court date.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department assisted with the stop.
