The list of filings for municipal and other elections in Halifax County on November 8 has been set.

In Enfield, Albert “Bud” Whitaker and Angela Williams Harper will run for the District A seat while Kent T. Holmes is running unopposed in District B.

Andrenia L. Ward will face Tracey Gardner Joyner in the at-large seat in Enfield.

In Halifax, Cliff Bass and John L. White are seeking council seats while Mayor Gerald Wright is running unopposed.

There will be a contested mayor's race in Hobgood with Dannie A. Flanary and Levon Harris seeking the post.

The remainder of the council will be filled by four of eight people who have filed: Dorothy Rogers Armiston, Doug Braddy, Stella Daugherty, Ron Elkins, Julian W. Padgette, Larry D. Smith, Jospeh Vaughan and Grover Whitley.

In Littleton Nada Diana Bobbitt, Clara Delores Debnam, Patrick E. McRae and Terry Newsom are running for council seats.

In the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District there is one challenger, Linda A. Brewer. Incumbents Valencia W. Davis, Jane W. Deese and Dorothy “Dot” Green have refiled.

There are no contested races in the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District.

In Scotland Neck, Leonard Bunting is challenging James E. Mills Sr. for mayor.

Vertia M. Evans, James L. Gunnels, Charlie Shields, Raymond Watson and Levy White are running for council seats.

In Weldon, incumbent Walter Clark Jr. is being challenged by Susan G. Smith.
