A disturbance call in Hollister Friday night led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man on marijuana charges.
Around 6:30 p.m. Deputy G. Page of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the Agri-John Road area following the reporting of an assault.
No one was hurt but Page interviewed Nicholas Wayne Hewlin, said to be suspect, according to Detective J. Puhak.
During the interview Page allegedly saw narcotics in plain view, narcotics that would later be identified as approximately 1.71 pounds of low grade marijuana.
Also seized was various marijuana cultivating paraphernalia and user amounts. The total approximate street value of the pot was $3,000.
Hewlin was charged with manufacture schedule VI, maintaining a dwelling for the use and manufacture of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hewlin was jailed on $8,000 bond and has an initial court appearance of September 14.
