The Halifax County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder which occurred in the 1000 block of the Maple Street extension in Weldon Sunday night.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin said in a news release Sergeant Greg Richardson and Deputy Travis Clark responded to call that a man, later identified as Brandon Tyrone Peterson, 29, of Weldon, had been shot.

Peterson was transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Martin said investigators are looking for two black males. There was no further description.
