A 17-year-old wanted in a Saturday night shooting off Carolina Rest Home Road turned himself Monday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Dashawn Moore was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond after turning himself in around 7 p.m.

Moore was wanted for assault with a deadly with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and three counts of assault by pointing a gun.

The additional counts reflect other people were in the house in the Roanoke Rapids area when the shooting occurred.

Investigators and deputies arrived after 11 p.m. and learned Moore and his stepfather were involved in an argument when Moore allegedly got a gun from his room and shot the man twice in the stomach. Moore fled the house.

Detective Roy Rooks said the stepfather, who is in serious condition at an undisclosed hospital, was shot with a small caliber weapon.

Moore has a December 7 court date.
