Questions about what city council has been discussing in closed session for the past several months may be answered during an emergency meeting of city council Tuesday afternoon.
Council will meet at 4 p.m. in the first floor conference room of city hall and will go into closed session to discuss the Roanoke Rapids Theatre, the notice issued this morning says.
“We may be able to convey information,” Interim City Manager Ed Wyatt said. “We're encouraged by it. At the end of the meeting there may be something. The very fact it (the notice) tells you what it is (is a sign) council is in a position be more open.”
Wyatt declined to discuss whether there is a potential buyer for the theater.
Mayor Emery Doughtie said he hoped council would be able to shed more information on the matter following the meeting. “I think tomorrow some information will be released.”
Asked if there was a potential buyer for the theater, Doughtie said, “Come tomorrow to the meeting.”
