The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is investigating an armed robbery which occurred this morning at the Interstate BP.

Captain Andy Jackson said around 5:45 this morning a person described as a black male walked into the store on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway armed with a shotgun. He was dressed in blue coveralls and his face was covered with a dark scarf.

It is not clear what kind of demands were made but he left with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen heading to the area of Motel 6.
