A Friday night shooting victim has declined to press charges against the man who allegedly shot him, according to Roanoke Rapids Police.
The police department still charged Eddie Boone, 20, of Creekside Court, with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a weapon in the city limits.
He was jailed on $5,000 bond.
Boone's arrest Friday began when Officer Kristopher Jordan was responding to a shots fired call in the 300 block of Franklin Street.
Captain Andy Jackson said as Jordan approached Third and Vance Streets, he saw two people jumping in a silver car. The officer stopped the vehicle and discovered a 9mm handgun and open bottle of beer in the passenger area.
Further investigation led the officer to discover the weapon was reported as stolen from Halifax County.
As that investigation continued, the police department received a call about a shooting victim seeking treatment at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
The victim had been shot in the foot. Investigation by Detective Charles Vaught led police to discover the victim had been shot during a domestic argument with his girlfriend and Boone allegedly intervened.
There was no evidence, however, to charge the victim with any domestic counts, Jackson said.
