Three people have been arrested and one is sought in a Wednesday night home invasion in Littleton in which one intruder was shot and killed and the other detained by the reputed drug dealer whose home they allegedly broke into.

The three Roanoke Rapids men have been charged by Detective O. Wiltsie of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office with first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The men — Rynel Tyreek Gaines, 24; Raymond Curtis Belcher, 24; and Deunta Quamae Squire, 22 — were jailed on $200,000 bonds and have February 1 court dates.

The sheriff's office continues to look for 21-year-old Rodney Lee Miles Jr., who is believed to frequent areas in Roanoke Rapids.

Detective J. Sealey said investigation led investigators to secure enough evidence to charge the three men and obtain warrants on Miles.

Sealey said it appears the alleged botched attempt to rob Rudolph Deandre “Dre” Davis was made in an effort to possibly rob him of drugs and money.

When the men entered the house on Short Street, they ordered the five people inside to hit the floor. A shot was fired and Davis, who was later taken into custody on federal drug charges, retrieved a shotgun and fired at Ricardo Keith Harley. Harley, who was wearing body armor, died later.

Investigators have not released where on his body Harley was shot.

Davis detained another man, Kayman Northington, who was arrested when deputies arrived.
