A Roanoke Rapids man and woman were both charged after he allegedly burned her with an iron and she stabbed him.
Wendy Jerrell, 45, and Carlton Wayne Powell, 52, both face charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
On Sunday just after 9 a.m. police responded to 1801 Old Farm Apartments on an assault call. Jerrell told officers she had been burned with an iron and, in retaliation, stabbed Powell, who is from Wilkins Street.
Jerrell had visible burns on her face, neck and arms and Powell was bleeding heavily from his face and arms which had multiple stab wounds. He also had a burn on his neck.
Both were treated and both have February 22 court dates.
