A man in the Lincoln Heights community sustained burns after apparently trying to light a fire in a wood stove Thursday night.

Davie Volunteer Fire Department Chief David Padgette said the extent of Jasper Adams' injuries were not immediately known but he was transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center. 

Padgette said it appeared he may have tried to start the fire with a flammable liquid.

The house on Godley Street sustained minimal damage.

The fire department received the call shortly after 6:30 p.m. and firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
