A Weldon man was arrested today and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a Roanoke Rapids man for the theft of metal, including a scalding vat, which was allegedly sold for scrap.
A scalding vat is used in hog killing. It was stolen from the Highway 903 area of Roanoke Rapids, according to Detective J. Sealey.

Today the sheriff’s office arrested 23-year-old Demarius Lamont York and charged him with felony larceny and obtaining property by false pretense.
York was jailed on $2,500 bond and has a March 21 court date.
Investigation of the case has also led to a warrant for the same charges as York being issued for Shadeed Mustafa Hyman, 28, of Roanoke Rapids. He also faces charges of breaking and entering and felony larceny from a case investigated by Detective H. Williams.
