Investigations and citizen complaints have led Roanoke Rapids Police Department narcotics agents to arrests on Monday and Tuesday.

Detective Sergeant T.R. Hathaway said on Monday officers, with assistance from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at 203 Chockoyotte Street, which is an apartment at Eastwood.

The officers seized four marijuana plants and grow equipment as well as cultivated plants from what Hathaway described as a closet operation.

Warrants for the arrest of John Paul Mills, 39, have been obtained for simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance, manufacture marijuana and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.

Hathaway said the mature plants have a street value of $4,500. Routine investigation led to the discovery of the operation.

On Tuesday, narcotics agents were investigating citizen and officer complaints on Prince Street where efforts led to three arrests and the seizure of 225 grams of marijuana.

Hathaway said officers received complaints that Marquette Watson, 20, and James Williams, 42, were allegedly trafficking marijuana into Prince Street.

Officers spotted the vehicle and stopped it. The strong smell of raw marijuana was coming from inside the car.

The officers discovered the marijuana and discovered Quayshawn Rogers, 20, had a concealed 9mm weapon.

Watson was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Williams was arrested on the same charges as Watson plus maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and no operator’s license.

Narcotics Agent Jamie Hardy said Watson and Williams were also served warrants from a year ago when they allegedly sold to an undercover officer. They face two counts of each of sell marijuana; deliver marijuana and conspiracy to sell marijuana.
