A shooting in Creekside Court has gone unsolved thus far as witnesses declined to discuss who, out of a crowd of 15 to 20 people, may have shot the victim in the leg Friday night.
Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said the victim, a 29-year-old man, was standing outside of the 300 building along with 15 to 20 other people made up of men, women and children.
Around 8 p.m. an argument occurred about 10 feet from the porch he was standing at with his girlfriend when he heard gunshots and felt a sting in his leg.
The girlfriend drove the man, who was treated and released, to the hospital, which reported the shooting to police. The man told Officer David Brown he heard the shots but didn’t see who fired the gun. He said no one in the crowd would tell him who fired the shots or had guns.
Brown did a canvass of the neighborhood and thus far has come up with no information.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers.
