The Roanoke Valley Rocks promotional fish at the canal museum has been stolen, according to the Roanoke Rapids Recreation Department.
The fish was last known secure at 5 p.m. Wednesday and was apparently taken between then and 8 this morning.
The fish, which was painted to resemble a real fish with the canal logo on the back, was ripped from its mount and was damaged.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Parks and Recreation Director John Simeon at 252-533-2847, the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
