A nuisance house in Weldon yielded another drug arrest this afternoon.
Called the Community House at 209 Ransome Circle in Scoco Park, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and state Probation and Parole went to the residence after receiving multiple complaints about drug activity, Narcotics Agent J. Puhak of the sheriff’s office said.
Puhak said before going to the house, Probation Officer Todd Johnston was contacted because the house is what he described as common ground for narcotics offenders on active probation.
As Puhak and Lieutenant S. Hall of the sheriff’s office, along with Johnston, approached the house, they saw Levall Derall Davis, 28, a suspected probation offender, allegedly throw a plastic bag into the nearby wood line.
An immediate search of the area yielded a bag containing 49.1 grams of suspected crack and powdered cocaine.
Davis, of Weldon, was charged with trafficking in cocaine and possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine.
He was jailed on $15,000 bond and has a June 6 court date.
Davis is a repeat offender with multiple similar offenses.
“This is a good example of good teamwork and the value of the local probation office. Officer Johnston’s trained abilities and enforcement capability proved to be an asset during our investigation,” Puhak said in a press release.
A representative from the Weldon Police Department could not be reached for immediate comment this afternoon to determine how nuisance abatement proceedings on the house are going.
