The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office charged the two inmates who allegedly threatened him with extortion, communicating threats and simple assault.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin said an inmate reported he was assaulted when he declined to hand his tray over to Kourtnie James and Timothy Arrington, both 21 and both from Enfield.
The arrest today marks the second time Arrington has been charged with extortion of another inmate, the last time in March over bed space.
Martin declined comment when asked if Arrington was trying to establish himself as a bully within the jail.
Both men were given $2,500 bonds and have June 20 court dates.
The victim was treated and released from a hospital for injuries he received when he was assaulted.
