Investigation of a June 26 breaking and entering in the Thelma area has led to the arrest of a Littleton area woman on metal theft charges, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Detective R. Somogyi said the door was kicked in and kitchen appliances and other metal items were taken. They were later sold as scrap, the detective said in a news release.

Further investigation determined there was another break-in in the same area which involved household items taken and sold as scrap metal as well as the theft of a farm plow, which was also sold.

Somogyi charged Cecilia Michelle Jarrell, 40, of Littleton, with two counts of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and larceny.

She was jailed on $8,000 bond and has a September 19 court date.

Somogyi noted the scrap yard involved had proper documentation of the purchases, which led to the investigation.
