Chaloner Middle School will not be open tomorrow but the other schools in the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District will open as scheduled.

School system Maintenance and Transportation Director Doug Miller said Chaloner sustained flooding in the electrical room.

In other flooding news, the American Red Cross, working in partnership with emergency management, said it closed the T.J. Davis shelter Saturday at 4:30 p.m. when it was determined that all residents had found alternative housing or were able to return to their homes.

Red Cross volunteers and staff have been in Roanoke Rapids this morning performing damage assessment, distributing water and snacks as well as clean up kits.

They will continue to provide relief services in the area as needed.
