A Littleton woman died this morning in a single-vehicle crash on Thelma Road, according to the state Highway Patrol.

An initial report by Trooper R.P. Dennis indicates Tiffany Banks, 28, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a person whose name was not immediately available. The report does indicate the driver of the vehicle was injured.

The crash occurred just before 1:45 a.m. about 4.7 miles west of Roanoke Rapids.

The vehicle was traveling west when it ran off the road to the right, collided with a mailbox and then a ditch. The vehicle then stuck a fence and came to rest on its roof.

It is undetermined whether alcohol was involved and it is not clear whether Banks was ejected from the vehicle. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the initial report.

The report indicates failure to maintain vehicle control as a contributing factor.
