The Myrtle Beach Sun News reported Thursday that Brian Garland Lancaster, arrested in Asheville for the robbery of Southern Bank in Roanoke Rapids, is wanted for a bank robbery in the South Carolina resort city five days earlier.

Myrtle Beach police told the paper that during an interview with Roanoke Rapids police detectives, Lancaster told officers he was involved in the robbery in Myrtle Beach.

Myrtle Beach police said a man entered the First Citizens Bank at 7500 North Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach on Oct. 12, presented a handgun and demanded money. Police said the man fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Myrtle Beach police have sought warrants related to the robbery, but no formal charges have been filed.

There have been no South Carolina detainers filed on Lancaster yet, but there has been one filed from Wayne County for his alleged involvement in an attempted robbery in the town of Fremont, Halifax County court officials confirmed.

Major Tommy Hathaway of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said detectives continue to investigate.
