A Monday evening fight landed a Hollister man in jail and sent the victim to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Detective R. Somogyi of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Deputy M. Brown responded to a fight call around 7:30 p.m. at a convenience store in the Hollister area.

Brown found the victim in the parking lot. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was treated for injuries to his arm and abdomen that were sustained from blows from a copper pipe.

Somogyi said this afternoon it was not clear what caused the fight.

The detective took out warrants charging Alfred Richardson, 33, with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Lieutenant Neil Aycock and Brown located Richardson the next day. He was jailed on $6,000 bond and has an April 3 court date.
