A rupture in the cooling system at Belmont Elementary forced school to move to T.J. Davis today.
Water in the lines of the overhead system was coming out into the hallway, said Doug Miller, director of operations and school facilities for the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District.
Eastern Environmental was called to cleanup the chemicals that leaked when the lines ruptured.
Miller said although school was shifted to T.J. Davis an early dismissal today is expected.
The Roanoke Rapids Fire Department set up fans at the rear of the school, Miller said.
