An Enfield man allegedly took advantage of keys left inside a vehicle and was later charged with its larceny Friday morning.
Deputy Brian Biggerstaff of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Silver Town Road in the Enfield area about a stolen truck.
The call came in at approximately 1:30 a.m., according to a press release from Chief Deputy Wes Tripp.
The victim told dispatch the name of the person who allegedly stole his truck from a gathering and Biggerstaff, while responding, located the vehicle on the side of Silver Town Road.
The vehicle was returned to the victim and nothing was reported missing.
The victim stated there was a gathering and Howard Pitchford, 35, allegedly walked outside, saw the keys were in the ignition and left.
Pitchford was charged with larceny and possession of a stolen vehicle.
He was placed on $12,000 bond and has an April 24 court date.
