The sheriff’s office continues to look for the two remaining suspects in the crime — Marcus Lamont Winborne, 22, and Quayshawn “Shawn” Rogers 21, both of Roanoke Rapids.

Chief Deputy Wes Tripp is advising the public to call the Halifax County Communications Center at 253-583-1991 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 with any information on the whereabouts of these two men.

Because a weapon has not been recovered these men are considered to armed and dangerous and the public should not make an attempt to apprehend them but call authorities.

Tripp stated that detectives have determined that the motive was a drug related crime.

Lieutenant Scott Hall said the robbery was related to drugs the victim, Kevin M. Ingram, 29, was believed to have on him at the time.

Hall declined to say what was taken in the robbery and declined to comment on who allegedly fired the shot that struck Ingram in the head as he sat in a car on the Community Marathon parking lot, which is located off Highway 158 near Zoo Road.

Hall also declined to say what prompted the alleged triggerman to fire a shot with a handgun at Ingram, who remains in critical condition.

The sheriff’s office also reported that two other men were charged with drug charges during the search warrant at Apollo Circle.

Zabriel M. Johnson, 19, was charged with possession of cocaine and Antwan D. Cooper was charged with possession of marijuana.
