Roanoke Rapids police are trying to determine the identities of the people in these surveillance photos who are believed to be responsible for the theft of an employee’s purse from behind the counter of New China restaurant.

Police responded to the restaurant shortly before 3:30 p.m. on June 22 after receiving a call of a stolen purse.

Witnesses said a group of six people, possibly Hispanic, entered the business, located off Julian R. Allsbrook Highway. An elder female with the group stated she reserved a room for 30 people and wanted to see it.

As the woman was taken to see the room, five younger people waited up front and one of the younger women wearing a gray shirt and white pants went behind the counter and began searching.
