A woman who allegedly managed to steal a wallet from a courthouse employee and use the credit cards contained inside for a small shopping spree has been arrested and jailed on $10,000 bond.
The Halifax County Sheriff's Office charged Amanda Raye Milton with financial card forgery, obtain property by false pretense, felony larceny and possession of stolen goods.
Detective Chris Scott said the charges stem from a case in which Milton, of Littleton, allegedly stole the wallet and spent around $500 in the Halifax area. The cards were used at convenience stores to make small purchases here and there. It is unclear how she actually stole the wallet.
She awaits a December 4 court date.
