A speeding violation Thursday in Scotland Neck led to the seizure of 28 bindles of heroin thrown from a vehicle.
The arrest of Devonte Little, 21, occurred around 10:30 p.m. as Deputy David McKeel of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office allegedly observed him traveling at a high rate of speed near East Fifth Street.
Major Scott Hall said it was not immediately clear how fast Little, of Scotland Neck, was allegedly driving.
McKeel conducted a traffic stop and noticed several white packages were tossed from the vehicle.
McKeel charged Little with possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin; reckless driving to endanger and having an open container of alcohol in the passenger area of a motor vehicle.
Little was jailed on $5,000 secured bond and assigned a March 18 court date.
