The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

January 20

Around 10 p.m. Officer Gerald Morris stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on East Tenth Street.

During the interaction with the passenger of the vehicle, Morris reportedly recovered a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Dylan Lawrence Shaw, 20, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shaw was given a $300 bond and a court date of March 13.

Master Officer Chris Babb assisted with the stop.

January 21

Around 11 p.m., Morris got out with a person walking in the area off West Tenth Street due to the recent motor vehicles throughout the city.

Morris came in contact with Taylor Scott Harris, 19, of Roanoke Rapids.

During the interaction Harris was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Morris cited Harris for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana and he was released.

January 22

Around 11 p.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to Hux’s Billiards about a disruptive person refusing to leave the business.

Staff at the business pointed out the person reportedly causing the problem.

Smith attempted to talk with Ricky Wilton Clements, 57, of Roanoke Rapids, about the problem. Clements reportedly began cursing and appeared to be intoxicated.

Smith arrested Clements for intoxicated and disruptive behavior.

While Smith was processing Clements, a victim reported that Clements reputedly brandished a knife during an argument.

Clements was also charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer and assault with a deadly weapon.

Clements was given a $700 bond and a court date of February 13.
