A man on supervised probation from an earlier arrest was taken into custody today following a sting by the City County Drug Task Force.

Mack Arthur Shearin, 52, was charged shortly before 1:45 this afternoon, according to Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Chuck Hasty.

The arrest was based on complaints fielded by task force Lieutenant H.G. Phillips on drug activity on Madison Street.

He faces charges of possession with intent sell and deliver marijuana; felony possession of marijuana; possess marijuana paraphernalia and maintain a dwelling for a controlled substance.

During the search warrant agents located approximately 95 grams of marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia which included Cigarillos, a medicine bottle, and a digital scale.

Shearin was given a $6,000 secured bond with a March 25 court date.

The North Carolina Department of Public Safety indicates that Shearin was convicted in Halifax County District Court for possession of marijuana in January and was placed on supervised probation for 12 months.

The conditions were that Shearin not possess any controlled substance or paraphernalia.
