A man already awaiting a court date in Northampton County for attempting to fire a gun at the Gaston Boat Landing now faces trouble in Roanoke Rapids for stealing items of value from the city's high school, police say.

Already out on bond for the Gaston matter, Dillon Tyler Irby, 18, was jailed on $40,000 bond Tuesday and charged with larceny and possession of stolen goods, according to Chief Chuck Hasty.

Master Officer Gorton Williams responded to the high school around 5 p.m. on a larceny call.

The victim said they saw a man later identified as Irby, of Roanoke Rapids, run out of the building with a trash bag and put it in the back of a truck.

The victim checked the office area of the school where the undisclosed items were stored and discovered them missing.

Williams, Lieutenant Perry Parks and School Resource Officer Rex Stainback located Irby and the vehicle. The stolen items were recovered and returned.

He has a May 5 court date for the Roanoke Rapids charges and an April 30 court date for the Northampton counts.
