The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

May 1

Around 10:30 p.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to a 911 call in the parking lot of Halifax Regional Medical Center concerning a person who was high and wanted to go to jail.

Smith located Shankeyia Johnson, 31, of Weldon, sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot.

Johnson showed Smith a blunt and the officer located drug paraphernalia during the search of the vehicle.

Smith arrested and charged Johnson with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and misuse of 911 systems.

She was given a $500 bond and June 5 court date.

Master Officer Gerald Morris assisted.

May 2

Around 2 a.m., Lieutenant Jeff Baggett stopped Michael Reid Crowder, 31, of Roanoke Rapids, for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop it was determined Crowder's license was revoked and he was impaired.

Baggett arrested and charged Crowder with driving while impaired and driving while license revoked. Crowder was given a $750 bond and a June 8 court date.

Sergeant Richard White and Morris assisted.

May 3

Around 2:15 a.m., Morris stopped Larry Michael Wells, 37, of Roanoke Rapids, for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop it was determined Wells was impaired.

Morris arrested and charged Wells with driving while impaired and driving left of center.

Wells was given a $500 bond and a July 13 court date.

Officer Ryan Cross assisted.

Around 5 a.m., Cross stopped Devontea Jaleel Williams, 23, of Garysburg, for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop it was determined that Williams was impaired.

Cross arrested and charged Williams with driving while impaired.

Williams was released to the custody of a responsible party and has a June 8 court date.

Around 11:15 p.m., Morris responded to a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of Henry Street.

After speaking with Matthew Franklin Butts, 24, and Allyssa Lynn Norwood, 21, both of Roanoke Rapids and seeing injuries to both parties, he arrested them.

Butts was charged with assault on a female and Norwood was charged with simple assault.

They were jailed without the opportunity for bond because of the domestic nature of the case. They have June 5 court dates.
