The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating the theft and fraudulent use of an Electronic Benefits Card since late February.

Recently, according to Detective J.M. Clark, investigators obtained surveillance video from the Julian R. Allsbrook Highway Food Lion in Roanoke Rapids where the card was used.

It is presumed the couple may be from the Roanoke Rapids or Weldon area and that the card was stolen.

About $75 in eligible items was purchased with the card, Clark said.
