A 49-year-old Roanoke Rapids man has been charged with firearm larceny following an investigation by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Detective Obert Wiltsie said in a statement John Thaddeus O'Briant has been charged with breaking and entering and six counts of larceny of a firearm.

The charges stem from a report of the larceny of several firearms on Fairlane Drive between May 14 and September 8.

Investigation led to warrants being obtained for O'Briant's arrest. He was served Tuesday without trouble and has an October 21 court date.

Wiltsie said the sheriff's office has recovered two of the firearms and additional charges may be pending.
