A Halifax area man wanted in the break-ins of three different structures last year was arrested by the state Highway Patrol in Nash County Tuesday.

Detective Obert Wiltsie of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office could not confirm Yusif Evans, 21, had been ducking arrest or whether he knew warrants were issued for his arrest for the crimes allegedly committed in the Conoconnara Road area of Halifax he has listed as an address in the past.

The break-ins resulted in the theft of metal items such as a kerosene heater and wood stove, which were taken to a salvage yard, Wiltsie said.

Evans, who has ties to the Rocky Mount area, was charged with three counts of breaking and entering; three counts of larceny after breaking and entering; three counts of possession of stolen goods; one count of misdemeanor larceny and one count of obtaining property by false pretense.

He also has a November court date in Nash County for unsafe movement violation.

He is scheduled to appear in court Friday on the Halifax County charges.
