A Roanoke Rapids man who was walking around Walmart naked Wednesday is scheduled for a first court appearance later this month.
Deputy Chief Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said officers responded to the call just past 4:30 a.m.
The man, identified as Vontrell Johnson, 20, was reportedly harassing female employees and grabbed one around the waist.
Officer Dale Strickland, Master Officer Gorton Williams and Lieutenant Jeff Baggett responded .
Strickland spotted Johnson near the pharmacy and a chase ensued, Johnson first going to the grocery store entrance and then back to the general merchandise area where he made a turn and went to the parking lot.
Strickland subdued Johnson and placed him under arrest.
He was charged with one count of misdemeanor sexual battery, one count of indecent exposure and two counts of resisting arrest.
He received a $5,000 bond and October 30 date.
Jackson said it didn't appear Johnson was in the store long as officers received the call at 4:36 a.m. and were on the scene at 4:37 a.m.
It was unclear why he was in the store naked.
