The girlfriend of man still on the run was arrested Sunday on heroin charges, according to the City County Drug Task Force.
Corporal S.N. Casey of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office charged Shulonta Smith, 37, of Scotland Neck, with possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin; felony possession of heroin and maintaining a dwelling place for a controlled substance.
She received a $10,000 unsecured bond and January 27 court date.
Meanwhile, Agent D.R. Radford of the task force said law enforcement continues to look for her boyfriend, Kevin Carswell, 28, who fled the residence on Henderson Farm Road as Casey was getting out of his vehicle answering a shots fired call Saturday.
Radford said Carswell generally frequents areas in Scotland Neck.
A subsequent search of the residence yielded 50 dosage units of heroin and 2.5 grams of crack, along with a digital scale, a box of sandwich bags, a firearm and currency.
Anyone with information is encouraged on Carswell or to report a tip on drug activity is encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or log onto the sheriff's office website.
