The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Monday December 21, 2015

At approximately 9:30 a.m., Officer Jonathan Benthall responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Tony Andre Brown, 49, of Roanoke Rapids, took items from the store without paying.

Benthall arrested and charged Brown, who received a $500 bond and January 8 court date, with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Officer Jason Williams assisted.

Tuesday December 22, 2015

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Officer Matt Hunsucker arrested and charged Joseph Ernest Lassiter, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, with two counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny and injury to property.

These charges stem from a report the police department received Monday at approximately 6 p.m. of a person going into and looking into cars at the Forest Hills Parking lot.

Several witnesses pointed out Lassiter and Hunsucker located him a short distance away.

Lassiter received a $3,000 bond and January 22 court date.

The investigation into other break-ins from previous nights continues at the location continues.
