Roanoke Rapids police are investigating an armed robbery which occurred at Sheetz early Saturday morning.

No one was hurt and Chief Chuck Hasty said an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

The robbery occurred around 1 a.m. when staff reported a man entered the store with a gun and demanded money from the cashier.

The clerk complied and the man fled the store.

The suspect wore a black hooded jacket or sweatshirt and a black bandana covered his face.
