A Jackson man awaits a July 16 district court date in Northampton County after being served warrants for an assault that occurred in January.
Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Chief Detective Ashley Collier said in a statement that warrants for felony assault of a person with a disability and felony assault inflicting serious injury were obtained for 50-year-old Jeffrey Neil Ray on June 16 and served Friday by Sergeant Z. McDuffie.

The warrants allege that Ray struck the victim in the face multiple times with a closed fist while the victim was seated in the passenger side of a vehicle. The blows resulted in multiple facial contusions, lacerations, a split lip, and a black eye. The warrant also states that the victim sustained a fractured orbital bone and permanent vision loss in the right eye.
Collier noted that the charges were the result of an investigation conducted by Sergeant R. Battle that began on January 21.
Court documents show Ray posted a $30,000 secured bond.
