The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Major Anzell Harris:
Cocaine charge
A Dinwiddie, Virginia woman faces charges of possession of cocaine and paraphernalia following a traffic stop on I-95 Thursday night.
Deputy D. Bybee conducted the stop, and while speaking with the occupants, he noticed a crack pipe partially concealed under the passenger's leg.

When Bybee inquired about the pipe, the passenger, identified as 56-year-old Alice Waldorf, allegedly shifted her position, revealing a clear plastic baggie containing cocaine.
A records check revealed she had an outstanding order for arrest from Vance County for a narcotics offense.
She received a $6,000 secured bond for Bybee’s charges and a $10,000 secured bond for the hold from Vance County.
She remains in the Halifax County Detention Center, according to jail records, and has a July 22 district court date in Halifax County.
Assault update
Sheriff Tyree Davis said an assault on a woman over the past weekend in Roanoke Rapids led to a report to the sheriff's office that a kidnapping and assault had also occurred near Airport Road in the Roanoke Rapids area.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department had begun an investigation into an assault that occurred within the city limits and had filed warrants for the arrest of Christopher Whitley, 39.
After conducting an investigation, the HCSO Criminal Investigations Division obtained felony warrants for Whitley’s arrest.
On Tuesday, Detective Sergeant M. Hasty and Detective Sergeant R. Elder determined Whitley was in Pitt County. Whitley was located at a residence in Winterville and taken to the Halifax County Detention Center, where he remains awaiting a July 22 district court appearance.
The RRPD charged Whitley with felonious restraint, assault by strangulation, and misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury. According to the warrant, those offenses occurred on Saturday.
The HCSO charged him with second-degree kidnapping and felony assault inflicting serious injury. Warrants state the date of those offenses was Sunday.
