An Enfield woman charged with human trafficking had her bond reduced following a bond review hearing Tuesday, according to court records.

The bond for Doris Bynum is now set at $150,000 secured. According to jail records, she remains confined at the Halifax County Detention Center.

There were no supporting documents contained in her online court records — only an entry posted today confirming her bond had been modified.

Bynum, who was initially denied bail, has been in the Halifax County Detention Center since April 13, when the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office charged her with human trafficking, kidnapping, and obtaining property by false pretenses.

The sheriff's office reported in April that Bynum was arrested after a lengthy investigation that included multiple interviews and search warrants.

The human trafficking warrant alleges that Bynum obtained, by any means, another person to be held in involuntary servitude. The kidnapping warrant alleges she kidnapped a person under the age of 16 by confining and restraining them for the purpose of causing serious bodily injury; the warrant states the victim was seriously injured.

Investigating detectives told rrspin in April that the victim was severely malnourished and was being held against her will.

Additionally, the warrant for obtaining property by false pretenses alleges that Bynum obtained $21,422 by making the victim believe a false debt was real.
