Halifax County Schools has announced its valedictorians and salutatorians for upcoming commencement exercises.

Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy

Valedictorian — Alexis Macon

Salutatorian — Kaylee Medlin

Macon is the daughter of Shirley and Sidney Macon and plans on a college track to become a radiology technician.

Medlin is the daughter of Seneca and James Harold Medlin II and plans to continue her education studying criminal justice. She plans to pursue entrepreneurship and obtain a CDL to drive tractor-trailers. Her ultimate goal is to become a private investigator and own her own business.

Halifax County Early College

Valedictorian — Briana Pitts

Salutatorian — Micheal Nicholson Jr.

Pitts is the daughter of Nikia and Brian Bitts and plans to attend UNC-Charlotte to major in accounting and business. She would like to become a CPA and open her own accounting firm.

Nicholson is the son of Kristi and Micheal Nicholson Sr. and plans to study aerodynamics with future plans of working in racing or aviation.

Southeast Collegiate Prep Academy

Valedictorian — Tre’Najhay Taylor

Salutatorian — Firona Dong

Taylor is the daughter of Christy and Trendell Taylor and plans to attend East Carolina University.

Dong is the daughter of Bifancj Li and Feng Dong and while she is still debating her career plans, she intends to possibly get a master’s degree upon completing her bachelor’s requirements.

Halifax County Schools Empowerment Zone

Valedictorian — Cor’Ijah Hawkins

Salutatorian — Maria Del Carmen Morales-Felipe

Hawkins is the daughter of Porsha Hawkins and plans to go to barber school to get licensed. She wants to continue to get her business up and running.

Morales-Felipe is the daughter of Florinda Felipe and plans on going to college to become an elementary school teacher.
