On December 31, 2023 our gracious Lord and Savior called home his humble servant, Roger Dale Eller, following a long battle with cancer.
He was born on September 25, 1945, in Beckley, West Virginia.
He was the son of the late Robert Lee and Hazel Eller of Sophia, West Virginia. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Arbutus Prunesti, Bobbie Williams, and his brother, Bill A. Eller.
He enlisted in the United States Navy from 1963-1967. He worked the flight deck on the USS Enterprise.
Roger pursued and enjoyed his career as a Journeyman Electrician and worked for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 666 for over 50 years and has been an avid supporter for Unions. He worked for the Department of Corrections in Lawrenceville, Virginia for over 15 years and received an Emblem award for service.
Among Roger’s many activities, he lived for fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He also loved camping and traveling, and most of all he loved being at his lake house on Lake Gaston, Henrico, NC.
Those left to cherish his memory and life are his wife of 55 years, Carol F. Eller; his son, Tracy D. Eller and his wife, Peggy Lee Eller of Chesterfield County, VA; his sister, Patty Woodie and her husband, Jimmy Joe Woodie of Sophia, WV; his sister-in-law,
Annetta Kaye Murdock and brother-in-law, John D, Murdock of Colonial Heights, VA, his sister-in-law, Terri Eller of Plant City, FL, sister-in-law Pam Gayness and brother-in-law, Deward L. Gayness of Lawrenceville, VA; many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and cherished their times at our Lake house.
We are thankful to Kevin Eller who helped tear down our first house and helped build our new house with many hands working around the clock to complete our many home projects. Roger was very appreciative for all the support from everyone that helped make our dreams come true. Lana and Bowen Hyatt of Chesterfield, VA, Dennis Gayness of Gasburg, VA, David Murdock of Colonial Heights, VA and also Vicki Caldwell of Charleston, WV who made trips to celebrate our family reunions and many special events.
God had a plan and welcomed Roger with open arms for his next journey.
The family will have a celebration of life service at their lake home.
Please make memorial donations to the Wildwood Fire Department.
