Betty Godsey Tucker, 64, died Thursday April 23, 2020 in her Roanoke Rapids home.

Born in Halifax County on December 22, 1955, she was the daughter of Claude Clint and Ada Matthews Godsey.  

Her mother, and her husband, James Vernon “Jimmy” Tucker, Jr., both preceded her in death.

Betty was a faithful member of Gaston Church of Christ.  

She loved God, her family, the mountains and a Pepsi.  

Betty enjoyed fishing, cooking, painting and gardening.  

She was a hard worker, having been a waitress at Second Street Grill for a number of years, then retiring from Oscar’s Restaurant following several years of service there.

Betty is survived by her father, Claude Godsey; daughters, Tonya Gaylor (Scott), Crystal Boden (Christopher) and Amanda Ott (Mikey); grandchildren, Makayla Jensen, Kameron Jensen, Caleb Boden, Tucker “Munchkin” Ott; step-grandchildren, Taylor, Connor and MacKenzie Boden; brothers, Bobby Godsey and Ronnie Godsey (Terri); sisters, Annette Everetts (Ronald Lee) and Loretta Ash (Fred); family friends, Willie Ferguson and aunt, Alice Cullom; and many nieces and nephews.  

Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, all services are private. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Monday in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service, with Mr. Daniel Merritt, minister of Gaston Church of Christ, presiding. Interment will be in Cedarwood Cemetery.
