Anne Birdsong Strickland

On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, Anne Moseley Birdsong Strickland, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 91.  

Anne was born on May 5, 1929 in Roanoke Rapids, NC.  She graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School and worked at Langley Air Force Base, J.P. Stevens, and National Bank of Orange.

Anne was an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church and loved serving her congregation and community.  As the matriarch of the family, she was a caregiver by nature and a beloved mother figure to all. She was the epitome of what a devoted Christian should be. 

Anne is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Elizabeth Moseley, and by her husbands Cecil Birdsong and Bruce Strickland. 

Anne is survived by her daughter, Suzanne B. Dawson (Craig) and her son Benjamin Birdsong.  She has five grandchildren, Katie (Jeffrey),  Kyle (Sarah), Cabot, (Melinda),  Ashton and Grayson (Sean), and three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Cambria and Demi.  

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, August 30, 2020 from 1-1:45 pm  at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Pastor Sue Owens will preside.  Interment will follow in Halifax United Methodist Church Cemetery.
